Every firm, scored against your mandate

Set the brief once — region, fee size, regulator, principal age — and the whole universe is ranked against it, with the reason for every score and every exclusion.

Where the firms come from

Public record, not a bought list. Every firm is traceable back to a filing or a statutory register, which is what makes the scoring defensible when a client asks why a name is on it.

  • Companies House — filed accounts, officers, ages, incorporation dates
  • The Register of Statutory Auditors, by city and postcode area
  • Filed accounts parsed for fee income, staff costs and headcount
  • The firm's own website, once proved to belong to that firm

How the score is built

Five components, each visible on the firm, so a ranking is an argument rather than an assertion.

20 points

Geography

In the search area, in an adjacent one, or out. Postcode area rather than a radius, because that is how practices actually describe their patch.

25 points

Size

Gross recurring fees against the mandate's range, using a researched figure where there is one and a filed-accounts estimate where there is not. Estimates are marked as estimates.

25 points

Succession

Principal age, whether anyone younger is on the board, and how long the firm has traded. The strongest single predictor that a call will be welcome.

20 points

Signals

Independent rather than a national brand, sole practitioner or two-hander, overdue accounts, recent resignations.

10 points

Reachability

Whether we hold a verified email or phone. A perfect fit you cannot contact is not a prospect yet.

Exclusions

Hard gates

Wrong country, wrong regulator, already marked do not contact. These exclude outright rather than scoring low, and the reason is recorded on the firm.

Contact details that are proved, not guessed

Most prospecting tools generate an address from a pattern and hope. That is how three unrelated practices end up sharing a contact address, and how you introduce yourself to the wrong firm.

Acquisition Engine works the other way round. It finds a candidate domain, then proves the site belongs to that firm — the firm's distinctive name on the page, plus its postcode or town — before it believes anything on it. An email is only kept when it sits on the firm's own domain. Confidence is recorded, and a name-only match is rejected.

See it on your own mandate

The most useful demo is against a real brief — what you are buying, where, and at what size. You will see your own long list, not a demo account.
